FAS Red Oak is kiln dried to 6-8%. The sapwood of red oak is white to light brown and the heartwood is a pinkish reddish brown. The wood is mostly straight-grained, with a coarse texture. Red oak is also considered a very hard, dense wood. It is used mainly in furniture, flooring, architectural millwork and mouldings, doors, kitchen cabinets, paneling.
Finishes: Stains, Oils and Natural
Poplar wood is of excellent strength and stability. Poplar’s sapwood is creamy white and may be streaked. The heartwood in comparison may vary from pale yellowish brown to olive green. The wood has a medium to fine texture and is straight-grained and has a comparatively uniform texture. Poplar is easy to machine, plane, turn, glue and bore.
Finishes: takes and holds paint and stain extremely well.

Hard Maple is kiln dried to 6-8%. The wood is a hard lumber with a distinctive and uniform texture. It is light in colour with a unique grain pattern. Hard maple has medium density, as well as good bending and crushing strengths. Hard maple machines, glues, and turns well and can be easily stained.

Softwoods
Eastern White Pine
Eastern White Pine is a straight grained lumber with a fine, uniform texture. It has a creamy white, pale yellow or light brown heartwood and creamy white sapwood. It appears yellow with age. Eastern White Pine nails and screws well without the need to pre-drill.
Finishes: holds glues, paints and varnishes well.
